International Relocation and Downsize

Roosevelt Craftsman Residence

The Roosevelt Craftsman project was a complex international relocation and downsizing effort. A family preparing to move overseas to Scotland for a new job required support in organizing, decluttering, and coordinating their transition. With a tight timeline, the family also needed to manage sending their kids off to college and preparing their home for rental, all while juggling the unique organizing styles of the husband and wife.

The Project

This international relocation required a “Done with You” approach, blending hands-on assistance with the clients’ decision-making. We began by developing a customized plan and timeline for downsizing their 13-year home to prepare it for rental while simultaneously coordinating their move to Scotland. Key Services:

  • Project planning and timeline creation to manage the relocation and rental preparation.
  • Personalized downsizing and decluttering sessions to accommodate each spouse’s organizing style.
  • Overseeing third-party services such as haulers, movers, property managers, and cleaners.
  • Researching an international rental in Scotland and finding an assistant to secure it before their arrival.
  • Handling specialty donation and recycling runs for tech and other unique items.

The husband and wife had opposing organizing approaches—she was a meticulous planner, while he preferred a laid-back style. Our sessions balanced these styles, ensuring progress was made without adding unnecessary stress.

The Results

We successfully downsized and decluttered the Roosevelt Craftsman home, preparing it for rental while helping the family move abroad with minimal stress. By acting as a mediator, we helped the couple navigate their differing organizing styles. Specialty items were responsibly donated or recycled, and a rental property in Scotland was secured ahead of their arrival. This project was so successful that the clients returned for “Round 2” when they later moved back to Southern California and decided to sell their Seattle home. We helped them clear out storage, provided additional downsizing, and coordinated the transfer of their belongings to California.

I think it was nothing short of a miracle that we found Amy.
