Does this sound familiar?  It’s moving day and the sofa, mattress or some other item doesn’t fit in or through a space at the new place.  Now you’re pulling your hair out because you have the stressful task of figuring out what the heck to do with that piece of furniture at last minute when you are tired and past ready to be done.  Don’t end up like this!  I promise it’s not fun.  (Yes, this happened to us.)  The good news – this is an entirely avoidable scenario by this simple task:  Measure before you move!

Before You Move, Measure This
Before you move, get these measurements.  If measuring is not your talent, you can hire a professional organizer, move manager, handyman, etc.  The measuring acronym conveniently works out to FRESHD…Think of it as Fresh Digs aka a Fresh Home.

Measurements Needed, in Height, Width and Depth:

  • Furniture
  • Rooms
  • Elevators
  • Stairwells
  • Hallways
  • Doorways
Now if an item isn’t going to fit, you are ahead of the game.  You can rehome, recycle or donate the “non-fitters” and plan to purchase or acquire furniture that fits, if needed.  Woot!
