For everyone’s safety and security, the following items should be packed and transported by you during your home relocation.  When I do moving projects with clients, I have them sign off on this very important To Do.  Some things aren’t allowed on moving trucks – and some things are just smarter to do yourself.  Remove items that may be tempting to steal, hard to track as missing or which would cause a major inconvenience to replace if gone missing.  While we all hope our movers are on the straight and narrow, the last thing you want to deal with after upending your entire residence is to deal with any dramatic, drastic or emergent issues!

The following items are NOT ALLOWED on moving trucks:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Ammunition
  • Chemicals
  • Corrosives
  • Fire arms
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Fireworks
  • Flammable liquids
  • Gas, kerosene
  • Lighter fluid
  • Matches
  • Paints, stains
  • Pressurized containers
  • Propane tanks
  • Solvents
  • Turpentine

Remove or secure these items BEFORE movers pack your house:

  • Banking documentation
  • Cash & credit cards
  • Collections
  • Deeds or mortgages
  • Furs
  • Hardware/small furniture parts
  • Jewelry
  • Personal documents & records
  • Pets (not an “item” – however, important to tuck them in a room – or away from the house!)
  • Prescription Medications
  • Securities
